Welcome to the State Museum!

We look forward to seeing you and wish you a pleasant stay. Please observe the regulations necessary in the current situation:

1. Masks (medical mouth-nose protection) are now only compulsory while you are on a guided tour. Outside of guided tours, you do not have to wear a mask in the museum, but we recommend it.

2. Please observe the distance rules (at least 1.5 metres) and avoid crowding.

3. Prior booking of tickets and events in our online ticket shop is recommended.

Absence of the Sky Disc

The original of the Nebra Sky Disc is on tour. From 17 February to 17 July 2022, it is on loan to the exhibition ›The world of Stonehenge‹ at the British Museum in London. From 6 August to 18 September 2022, it will be on display as part of the exhibition ›De Nebraschijf – De ontdekking van de hemel‹ at the Drents Museum (Assen, The Netherlands). During its absence until the beginning of October 2022, the master copy of the Sky Disc will be on display at the State Museum.

Café and shop at the museum

Please note that the capacity of our café is limited. On busy days, it is to be expected that all seats will be occupied.

Purchases in the museum shop are also possible via the website of the Museum Association and by telephone on +49 345 5247-483.

Guided tours

Currently, wearing a mask (medical mouth-nose protection) is compulsory while taking part in a guided tour. This does not apply during your stay in the museum before and after a guided tour.

Already purchased day tickets and annual passes / coupons

Tickets and coupons for museum visits already purchased in advance remain valid, but will also be refunded upon presentation of the original ticket.

The duration of annual passes already purchased and valid during the lockdown periods (museum closure) will be extended by the corresponding times.
