Offers for People with Special Needs

All events are also aimed at people with special needs. They will be adapted to the individual needs and potentials of our visitors. We are a barrier-free museum.

All exhibition areas can be visited also by people with disabilities. Access for people with reduced mobility is at the side entrance of the museum, Richard-Wagner-Strasse 9. Two disabled parking spaces are available in the Mozartstrasse behind the State Museum on both sides of the gateway.

We would be happy to advise you on our special offers.

›A different kind of perception‹

For blind and visually impaired visitors we offer the opportunity of a museum visit of a ›different kind‹ depending on their visual impairment:  without disruptive glass panes of display cases and with additional lighting, faithful reproductions of exquisite pieces of our exhibition or even selected original finds can be experienced. Advance notification required!

Officially barrier-free

The accessibility of the State Museum has been assessed according to the Germany-wide standardised labelling system ›Reisen für Alle‹ (Travel for All). For people with mobility disabilities, the State Museum fulfils all quality criteria – we are entitled to use the ›barrier-free‹ badge!

You can find more detailed information on the results of the assessment and on the accessibility of the State Museum for other people with special needs on the website of ›Reisen für Alle‹ (only available in German).

The most important information can also be found in the short report of ›Reisen für Alle‹ [in German only, PDF, 1.8 MB, not barrier-free].
