Since 2002, the Association for the Promotion of the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale) (registered society) supports the work of the State Museum in an energetic and varied way. Its purpose is to promote research on prehistory and early history in Saxony-Anhalt and to advocate an expansion and deepening of the understanding of history among the public.

In the State Museum, the association also operates a shop with an adjoining bistro. It is open Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The shop and bistro have their own entrance. Access is therefore possible without buying an entrance ticket for the State Museum.
